Back from the Dales...

We are back from Yorkshire! Our luck with the weather so far this year ran out in style when it bucketed (literally) down with rain all day on Saturday. We stuck with the original plan of splitting into two groups... one would do the Three Peaks and the other would do Two Peaks... or so we thought?

In the end my group (the Two Peakers) ended up just doing Whernside. On the way up, we were stopped when section of path had turned into 10 metre wide raging torrent...

...so we ended up taking a detour, going across 2k of muddy bogs and moorland, using a map that resembled a used bog roll within an hour (cos Sam 'borrowed' my map case) in order to get back on the path. By the time we got down the Hill Inn, we were drenched.

The Three Peakers did far better. They (apparently) waded across this raging torrent and stormed up Whernside and Ingleborough with relative ease. Unfortuately, due to the rain / cold and several knee injuries, only three managed to tackle the final summit... and got the T-shirts to prove it:

From Left to Right... Jonjo, Sam (Vice Prez) and Phil (Minister of Happiness)

Sunday was a complete contrast to Saturday:

We ended up doing a chilled out waterfall walk, before heading to the pub, where we bumped into a lovely bunch of fellow hikers from Soton Uni. All in all, a good weekend!
